Kommera Narender Reddy memorial eye campUsing the services of Karimnagar Lions club eye hospital, on June 22, 2008,Mr.Chandrashekar Kommera Austin, TX, USA has organized "Kommera Narender Reddy memorial eye camp" at Kukunoorpally, in memory of his father.

This camp helped 27 needy persons to go through cataract surgeries absolutely free. It also helped another 28 people who received subsidised glasses for their eye sight problems.

On June 22 (Sunday) the hospital staff arrived by 9 am at the village and they conducted the eye exams upto 2 pm. Local government primary school was the venue for this camp. The patients who required cataract surgeries were boarded into the Lions Club's bus along with their escorts. They were then transported to the Karimnagar Lions club eye hospital located at Rekurthy by the same evening. On the next day ( June 23 ), they went through surgeries and on the following day (June 24) they were all transported back to Kukunoorpally.Kommera Narender Reddy memorial eye camp

After about a week gap, a Doctor made a follow up visit to the village to make sure that the patients are doing fine.

Mr.Chandrashekar Kommera say in his own words "I am quite impressed with the service motto of this hospital management and staff. While interacting with the villagers, the hospital staff were very respectful and kind. The village sarpanch
Kacham Naveen, ZPTC Anji Reddy, and local youth organizations cooperated with us very well in organizing this camp. My brother's friends Gujja Srinivas, Narender and K.Srinivas came from Karimnagar to take care of some of the arrangements along with my brother Praveen. Dr.Bhaskar Madhekar garu, hospital chairman, provided his guidance all along.

I made a total payment of Rs.55,350.00 to the hospital. ( Rs.2000 per surgery and Rs.50 each for the protective glasses). This includes surgeries, transport, and food for the patients and their escorts.

Kukunoorpally is my ancestral village located in Kondapak Mandal of Siddipet division in Medak district. It is on Rajiv highway between Siddipet and Pregnapur.

I hope that more people will use the services of the hospital in eradicating avoidable blindness. You can explore the website of the hospital, www.ruraleye. org, to know more about their services.
